“I'm a newer member, and when I joined everyone was so nice and helpful, they immediately welcomed me, with a nice environment. The troop is a great way to make new friends, go on great adventures and learn lifelong skills."

— Breacan P., Tenderfoot Scout

“Troop 188 is a great community where boys and their families thrive in an environment of love and adventure.  My son learned how to cook, canoe, row boats, administer first aid, rescue someone from the water, just to name a few. He’s also camped in the Sierras, Arizona mountains and all over southernCalifornia.  Most importantly, he’s become a leader in his troop and a mentor to the younger scouts. I can not even come close to expressing how scouting and Troop 188 has enriched his life and has given him a great start to becoming a good man, which is really what we need in this world today. ”

— Allan R.., Parent

“I recently joined Troop 188, and from the very start I felt like I
belonged. Everyone is welcoming, supportive, and genuinely fun to be
around. Every meeting and campout has been a great experience, and
it’s clear that this troop really cares about its Scouts. Troop 188
makes Scouting something I always look forward to.”

— Artin M., Eagle Scout

"Troop 188 is so inclusive, and has a healthy balance of fun activities with a laid back pace. The parent volunteers really let the kids lead, but also do so much to support them and their achievements and ranks. It's truly special to be part of this group. My scout has become a strong leader and cares very much for the whole group, and the Cub Scouts too. I also really love our campouts and watching the kids laugh together. I highly recommend this troop for a kid's growth under less societal pressures. Everyone just knows how to have a good time."

— Kristin G., Parent

“Scouting has helped my son learn important skills such as wilderness survival, knife handling, and knot tying. It has helped him make friends and learn about leadership roles.”

— Jason P., Parent

"Scouting gave me the foundation of leadership, independence, and organizational thinking in ways I didn't fully appreciate until adulthood. It reinforced core values — trustworthiness, loyalty, and service — that have guided how I show up in every role I've held. Most importantly, it sharpened my ability to read a room and know when to lead and when to support, a skill I rely on every day."

— Ed S., Alumnus, Eagle Scout 1988

“Boy Scouts has been a great mix of structure and freedom. My son gets to practice real independence with support close by. It’s helped him learn to set goals, break them down, and keep working until he reaches them.  The troop feels like a real community and the friendships make it something he actually wants to show up for.”

— Scott G., Parent

“I have met some of my closest friends in Troop 188. I’ve made so many great memories on outings and learned so many useful skills such as first aid and leadership. I think I would not be the same person I am today without Troop 188 and scouting.”

— Asher T., Life Scout

“I enjoy the fact that we do a lot of different activities and there is a really good bond between my fellow scouts. The meetings are fun and everyone involved is really supportive.”

— Isaac N.P., Second Class Scout

“One memory in particular was our annual summer camp to Emerald Bay. We had a couple first timers who felt really homesick, so I made sure to show them around the camp, and all the awesome activities it had. By the end of the week they didn’t want to leave!”

— Miguel T., Alumnus, Eagle Scout 2024
